A GREAT BIG HOLE in History…
The pressure for Christian scholarship to surrender to secular reasoning leaves a gaping hole in history. Think about it. IF SATAN IS WHO THE BIBLE SAYS HE IS… THEN A MAJOR “PLAYER” – second only to God Himself and arguably one of the most influential of all personalities to manipulate, deceive, and drive individuals and nations – is “left alone” to continue to ACT WITHOUT BEING DISCOVERED. That means there is a major Player who has acted and whose acts are “reinterpreted” and explained in ways NOT TRUE.
In short, there is a BIG HOLE in History…everywhere skewing the history of nations, individuals and events, without being caught!
But, IF there are PATTERNS of his invisible power and influence – AND THERE ARE – then he should be “discoverable” and “identifiable” in much the same way “fingerprints” or “DNA” is used by detectives to catch an otherwise unknown killer. Patterns of behavior can be “forensically” identified by experts. Such is the case in the physical world of crime and passion.
But, the discovery here is NOT “physical”. But it is very much “forensic” …quite suitable for review in any public forum for analysis and debate…not the mention the discovery of the greatest criminal in history!
Not to mention the most successful in hiding his intent and work!

Invariably, however, all historical analysis – apart from biblically grounded presuppositions – invites a dependence upon flawed reasoning, even if explicitly denied.
The Scriptures were designed by God as the Handbook for the affairs of life, salvation and godliness. Therefore, all within it is designed for practicality… including a thorough exposé of Satan and all of his wiles. Still, the problem with identifying the Satan of Scripture inside the portals of an historical framework alongside an intelligible evaluation of his “schemes” (cf. II Corinthians 2:11) throughout history, brings to the fore a unique problem.
Stated concisely, Satan is supernaturally brilliant, indeed brilliant enough to hide his presence, schemes, motives and intentions through disguise far beyond the capacities of a fallen world to discern him and them. Put otherwise, without direct Revelation from God in His Word, Satan cannot be discerned for the terrorist, charmer, general, strategist, musician, accuser, philanthropist, religionist, philosopher, scientist, healer, psychologist, historian and “Christian” he has really proven himself to be.
