One of the great patterns of history revealed by the Word of God is the overt rise of the occult in the period just prior to the rise of Reformation in Society. That reflects the clash of two supernatural movements: spiritism in opposition to the rise of Church of Jesus Christ.
The promise of our Lord in Matthew 16 states
“Upon this Rock I will build my Church, and the gates of Hell will not be superior in strength against it.”
By promise, the Church of Christ is revealed by God to be the most powerful Body on earth, because unto her, it is given to overwhelm “the gates of Hell” ( the authorities representing Satan on earth.)
Most Christians do not realize the full scope of the promises attached to the Church of Christ. Colossians 1:16 tells us Christ is preeminent in heaven and earth, over rulers and thrones, over the material creation. In short, Christ is preeminent over all things. But for too many in the church, that is the end of the explanation. When one considers the many Scriptures, there is a surprising Truth God reveals to us: Christ is preeminent but it is reserved to the True Church of Christ to “manifest” that preeminence to the nations…
“Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit says the Lord.”
Listen to this message and you’ll be surprised how extensively developed that theme is revealed throughout Scripture.
The mystery of the Church is that she bears twins in her womb: The Mystery of Righteousness and the Mystery of Iniquity and God puts enmity between the two. (cf. Genesis 3). It is for these reasons the Mystery of the Church is necessary for our understanding.
