- The Recall effort… Successful despite Failure
As of today, October 26, 2020, it was announced that the “recall of Gov. of Wisconsin Tony Evers” had failed to amass the necessary 680,000 signatures to force a recall election ballot. Of the many I know and to whom I spoke of this issue, ALL were thoroughly disappointed.
Why disappointed? Of course I am disgusted the recall of this criminal Governor failed. I’m certainly not elated that the recall failed… I and my wife worked hard to get signatures. I believe the Governor of Wisconsin, Tony Evers, is a criminal and, as with any criminal, utterly despicable in his violation of oath and totalitarian assumption of power. Furthermore, the almost single-handed and thoroughly usurped execution of the powers of government which he has managed to pull off with the help of state representative Robin Vos and State Sen. Scott Fitzgerald is unparalleled and unconscionable. Both of these elected officials managed to dig deep into their bag of political debauchery – finding reason after reason to keep the two houses of the state legislature from stopping the governor’s abuse of power – thus protecting the renegade governor as he wreaked havoc upon the culture and economy of Wisconsin.
But I’m elated in another direction: in 47 years of ministry on two continents I’ve never seen so many people so angry over what they voluntarily described as “treason” against the people of the state. For decades I’ve made it clear that the Law of the Lord identifies as SIN that which God condemns in officials of government power and office.
“Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with the, those that frame perversity with a law?” – Psalm 94:20.
The Prophets and the Apostles condemned perversity and corruption in civil government many hundreds of times throughout the entire context of the Scriptures. We’ve seen 70 million abortions in the United States to date (at least!)…and we still do not have the backing of the majority of churches voicing their uncompromising condemnation of this abomination, let alone the multitude of other corruptions sweeping through our land.
Yet, in this my 47th year of ministry I am elated that the corruptions of Tony Evers drew a more sudden outrage across the state. THAT IS a resounding success. The genie is out of the bottle… Too many people now have their blinders off and are indignant. That’s always the first step in challenging totalitarian government. Let’s face it, the corruption of crooks, willful misinterpretation the Constitution by the courts, the justification of the death ethic in abortion, euthanasia, Big Pharma…and the advance of Socialism on all cultural fronts, has remained, for the most part, unchallenged in any significant manner. The Left has “had its way” for a long time now, and seeing common folks who one short year ago could never been reached with conspiracy, are testifying that is exactly what we face here in Wisconsin and across the land.
- Shaking in their boots…
Don’t kid yourself. And don’t let the Left deceive any. Tony Evers didn’t reach into deep pockets to pull out funding and write advertising which polluted the public opinion well with his “don’t sign the recall” public ads, because he was self-assured and confident. Anytime there’s a Recall of any serious “reach,” corrupt officials like him are the FIRST to tremble and rush into the fray proclaiming, “Taint so!”
Now’s the time for Wisconsin to stand up and demand the state legislators invoke the Wisconsin State Constitution at 323.10 which says a joint resolution of both Houses of the Legislature can put an immediate end to the governor’s mandate. That option is permanently on the table for all of us to invoke, at any time, because it is the Wisconsin Constitution itself, which isn’t going away. Of course, the severity of the ongoing damage being done while the Legislature dithers is the real problem.
However, nobody reacts the way this Gov. reacted without losing sleep while being sickened by the possibilities of his impeachment, recall, and/or reversal in mandates. After all, the courts have begun to hinder his unauthorized, unilateral assumption of power. Everyone knows there is more than simply a “concern” in the land. We are in the midst of a gigantic earthquake – social and political – which is humbling to of us.
- Where was the Church in all of this?
My colleagues in the pulpit have again been conspicuously absent from the fray. Obviously, not all pastors were silent. Some remained faithful and opposed the evil of this criminal governor. But, most were not calling for support for the Recall. Too many ignored it and refused (as usual) to address anything concerning the Civil Magistrate… much less to expose evil that it might be overcome (cf. Romans 12: 21:
Be not overcome with evil but overcome evil with good. – Romans 12: 21
with Romans 13:
For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he bears not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. – Romans 13: 3-4
The point of Romans 13 is clear. God commands the Civil Magistrate to … 1) punish criminals (“evil-doers” which includes invaders and also settles disputes of wrong-doing in civil suits as well); 2) it is the duty of the Civil Magistrate to uphold (“praise”) those who are good citizens, and need protection from the criminally inclines. Without this understanding, appeals to Romans 13 becomes an exercise in blind obedience to any edict, including Draconian edicts, and to any “Hitler-wanna-be” … and an excuse to fail to expose and oppose, evil.
- It’s simple: There is a victory in all of this…
Don’t allow discouragement to take hold of your passions and heart in this matter. “Be NOT overcome with evil…” The Recall effort was a success in sending a clear message to the Governor. Now is the time to stand against his tyrant… and time to keep the state legislature from further encroachments of the Marxist Democrats. Make sure you vote next week. Delay to assumption of full power now by voting for those who are not allied with the Democrats. The Delay forestalls their assumption of power… until we can get the numbers needed to “overcome evil with good.”
