The steady increase in tattoo popularity has been a phenomenon of the American landscape since the 1890’s. However, it was in the 1960’s that tattooing, along with many other lifestyles as expressed in music, clothing, trends and fads, hairstyles, drug use, sexual mores, began to energize the popular culture and a radical shift away from historic values.
Tattoos began to express one’s commitment to counter culture bias by the display of their body art as signs and symbols of resistance to the values of Western society, particularly, expressive of a pointed rebellion against historic Christian values.
This book is not designed as a history of tattooing, but rather with one thought in mind: the tattoo is one of the most powerful cultural expressions of a radical transformation of a civilization AGAINST the rise of the Christian faith.
Our society is witnessing a serious, life-threatening expression of inner decay. The seemingly harmless tattooing fad is a universal symptom that shows the culture is in its death throes. By itself of course, a single tattoo is usually nothing, but the tattooing as practiced especially among our youth, is another thing altogether. It just may very well be the expression of a true primal instinct… death and dying
